Kelly and Marcus' Wedding, The Club at Longview

 photo 1.jpg

photographer's notes - i got a chance to hang out with Marcus and Kelly during our retro E-session in Salisbury; an excellent shoot that set us up for their wedding day coverage.

the Club at Longview, with its iconic stone walls and the rich cherrywood toned interiors, made for a great locale for Marcus and Kelly's event. it was a beautiful day for their outdoor ceremony - i've done a few outdoor events this year, and though we love the churches we get to work in, its a nice change to have the freedom and mobility to see the ceremony from different perspectives.

i wanted to close this entry with some of the night exposures Samantha and i did.

i thought her sparkler shot was pretty cool.

Vanessa and Fred's Engagement Session, Queens University, Charlotte, NC

 photo 1.jpg

photographers notes - since Mad Men resumed its series, i find myself thinking of the visuals on the show all the time...and i think it finds its way into my work. the cool sophistication of the city series on Vannessa and Fred's e-session on the second leg of our shoot kind of reflects what i'm talking about.

styling, also, has been on our minds here at Indigo. clothes are almost like locations - they really have such a big influence on the tenor of our images, and propels the looks we seek in one manner or another.

i loved the choices that our clients chose for Queens University; their clothes felt like spring - fresh and clean cut. such a terrific look for the "college on the hill" vibe that Queens has...

...and what a different feel to our urban themed set we finished with. i had fun with the editorial series at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art.

an fun collaboration - looking forward to the wedding!

Bethany & Jonathan's Engagement Session at The Duke Mansion, Charlotte, NC

 photo 1.jpg

photographer's notes - this year, for me, is the year of shooting at the Duke Mansion. for the "Town and Country" ethos, there is nowhere i'd rather shoot.

for Bethanny & Jonathan's e-session we had smooth, shadowless light. in such a romantic location, i loved the idea of shooting "film stills" - images that looked like outtakes from movies. there was a quiet, intimate feeling to the set we did indoors i found compelling.

on a semi-related note, i think i have to get a dog. its a commitment (to waking up early), but its something i have to do this summer. i've done several portrait sessions that included a four pawed family member of my clients and i think i'm missing out.

Erin and Dan's Wedding, Saratoga Springs

 photo 1.jpg

photographer's notes - i think this is our 12th year, and even though we're all seasoned photographers, it still feels like we're new alot of the time. we're still evolving our techniques and subtly changing our approach.

we've had the pleasure of documenting hundreds upon hundreds of weddings and the main difference for us now, is our experience. when i walk into a location, nine times out of ten i know what photographic possibilities are in a given locale - and that familiarity really does enhance the work at the end of the day.

for Erin and Dan's wedding day, it was a return to the country elegance of Saratoga Springs. we had good momentum, building off a wonderful e-session we did a few months back. they scheduled their ceremony an hour or so before dusk - the color we had during our pre-reception portrait series was fantastic, "take-alot-of-pictures" kind of light.
